Gold Rush Days

In 1862 near Yuma, gold was discovered along the Colorado River, bringing hungry prospectors from all over the West. One of those hardworking men was Henry Wickenburg. Henry pursued his dream of gold by settling his claim in the foothills of Vulture Peak. His risk paid off with one of the largest gold strikes in the history of Arizona. The Vulture Mine has pulled $30 million of high-grade ore from deep underground. Henry Wickenburg’s spirit and sense of adventure lives on in Wickenburg today.
