For many, good food is one of life’s absolute essentials, guiding everything from restaurant choices and viewing habits to social circles and travel destinations. And if you know Wickenburg Ranch, you know you have nothing to worry about in that department. For one thing, there are a number of great places to eat and drink without leaving sight of our stunning golf courses—four unique and distinctly Arizonian establishments in all. That includes the community’s signature restaurant, Jake’s Spoon, as well as more casual fare at The Watering Hole, Wick’s Hideaway and The Outpost.

But what about for those who not only want to eat the food, but make it, too? Wickenburg is more than accommodating there as well. It all starts at Sophie’s. No, that’s not the name of a local gourmet cook who hosts dinner parties. We’re referring to Sophie’s Culinary Parlor, a master kitchen, cooking demonstration site and party central all in one inviting and very tasty place. Located in the community’s activity-filled Golf and Social Club, Sophie’s is the ideal spot for any number of food-centered activities and events for groups of up to 32.

As Seen On TV

It’s something Arizona Daily Mix host Brad Perry found out first-hand when the show recently visited Wickenburg Ranch and spent a good part of their segment in Sophie’s Culinary Parlor with Executive Chef John Hofberger and a few locals. They discovered a warm and inviting setting for tasting and socializing featuring some of the finest food preparation areas and appliances. Food Classes

Think about your favorite cooking show, only infinitely more intimate and personalized. That’s what happens at Sophie’s the last Wednesday of every month. Wickenburg residents gather for the ultimate cooking class with the community’s executive chef John Hofberger (as seen in the video excerpt above) to learn simple tricks to prepare a wide range of dishes from our own restaurants and beyond—many with the distinctively delicious Arizona influence we’re famous for. The class format invites feedback, questions and allows students to make suggestions based on interests or recent trips abroad.

Social Gatherings

The kitchen is the heart of almost every home. It’s the one place where friends and family get together to eat, laugh and enjoy each other’s company. Sophie’s Culinary Parlor serves the same essential function for many at Wickenburg Ranch, particularly for groups interested in food-related gatherings, celebrations and events.
